An invitation round is when the Department of Home Affairs invites people with an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect to apply for a skilled visa, such as the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) or the family-sponsored Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).
It is the lowest points score that received an invitation for that occupation in that round. People with a higher score, or the same score with an earlier date of effect, were invited first.
When several people have the same points score, the EOI with the earlier date of effect is invited first. The tie break date shows the cut-off used in that round.
