Administrative Review Tribunal
ART Appeals for Visa Decisions
Had a visa refused or cancelled? You may be able to ask the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) to review the decision. Strict time limits apply, so act fast.
About ART Appeals
The Administrative Review Tribunal is the independent body that reviews many Department of Home Affairs decisions, including visa refusals and cancellations. It considers your case afresh, including new evidence, and can change the outcome.
A strong review depends on understanding exactly why the decision was made and addressing every reason with clear evidence. Our registered migration agent can assess your prospects, prepare your submissions and represent you at the hearing.
Act quickly: time limits are strict
Time limits for ART review are very strict. They depend on the type of decision and whether you are in immigration detention, and your time limit is set out in your Department of Home Affairs decision letter. The tribunal has no power to extend the time limit, so contact us as soon as you receive a decision.

About ART review
A fresh look at your visa decision by an independent tribunal.
The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) replaced the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in October 2024. It independently reviews many migration and refugee decisions made by the Department of Home Affairs, and can affirm, vary or set aside a decision, or send it back to the Department to decide again.
The Migration Act and Migration Regulations set out which decisions the ART can review. Your decision letter tells you whether you have review rights and who can apply, which may be you or your sponsor.
The ART looks at all the facts again, including new information and evidence you provide, and makes the correct or preferable decision.
